Description:
The purpose is to make students aware of the benefits of fitness and what should and shouldn't be done. There are four different topics, which each have a positive, negative, and a fact about each fitness topic.
Additional Information:
Nutrition DO Eat healthy choices EVERY day or bring a nutritious lunch from home. DONT Eat a lot of fast food or deep-fried food items! FACT About 80% of students don't get their recommended 5 servings of fruits and veggies each day. Activities DO Engage in activities outside of PE including school athletics or rec activities with friends and family. DONT Sit for extensive amounts of time in front of the TV screen watching shows or playing video games. FACT About 1 in 5 children in the US are now overweight due to reasons including inactive lifestyles. Exercise DO Participate in at least 1 hour of physical activity most days of the week. DONT Think that P.E. is the only physical activity you need. FACT Staying active helps manage stress and boost your energy level on a daily basis. Technology DO Use the internet to make a food pyramid or research healthy habits. DONT Surf the web and play video games or go on social networks. FACT Go to mypyramid.gov
