Title of Bulletin Board: Play SoftBall!

Category: Sport Skills

Suggested Grade Level: 6-8

Materials: Construction paper, butcher paper, student photographs, scissors, tape

Description:

During my student teaching experience, I taught a softball unit for grades 6-8 (girls only). The three skills we focused on were pitching, hitting, and throwing. I developed about five cues for each skill to assist students in their skill development. As another method of teaching, I constructed this bulletin board to show students how each cue (tips) looked during the skill. So I asked some of the travel softball players to assist me in the process. I took pictures of the students in action and then attached the associated cue next to the picture. The students absolutely loved this. Not only did they enjoy seeing their picture on the wall, but they could then identify exactly how to perform each of the cues.
