Title of Bulletin Board:
Anyway You Stack It
Category:
Physical Education
Suggested Grade Level:
2-5
Materials:
Broken Speed Stacking Cups, Heavy Card Stock, Glue Gun, Construction Paper
Description:
Every year, I have cups that break during my Speed Stack unit. I decided to hang on to some of the "better cups" and asked my husband to cut them in half with some of his tools. In my scrapbook paper stash, I found some heavy cardboard type card stock. After deciding on cup placement, I used my glue gun and ran a bead of hot glue on the cut edges of the cup. I placed it where I wanted it on the card stock. To make sure it stayed glued, I ran another bead of glue around the outside edge. I continued this process until I had created a 6-stack. Before hanging the cup stacks, I used a utility knife to cut away the excess card stock. I left about 1/4 - 1/2 inch so that I could attach it to the bulletin board using staples and/or tacks. The letters were cut out using my Cricut machine that I use for scrapbooking. My unit was almost over by the time I was done with the bulletin board, so I chose a saying the was geared for Physical Education. Next year, I'll create a saying that will promote the Speed Stack unit. I received several compliments from the students and they especially liked that I recycled the broken cups. I have a new supply of broken cups now and plan to make some 3-stacks and a 10-stack.
