PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: SPRING Into Activities

Category: Physical Activities

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Clip art from Word; laminator; print outs from web

Description:

Full Title: "SPRING" into Activities...To Reach Your Target Heart Rate.

I am tying in Spring time (end of the school year) with encouraging students to think about lifestyle activities that they can do on their own, outside of school and also working on reaching their target heart rate zone.

The path starts in lower left corner with picture of the PE teacher hitting a softball to send you around the "track" arriving at Exercise, Play Ball, Throw Frisbees, Jog and Walk, Go Biking, Swim, and finally ending up at the target, "To Reach Your Target Heart Rate Zone". I also thumb tacked take home forms on "How to Find Your Target Heart Rate Zone". I used clip art from WORD for all my graphics, then copied onto card stock and laminated. Easter egg border ties in Easter season.

Additional Information:

On right side of board, we always post "Health & Fitness Tips". I use the monthly calendars on physical fitness from NASPE's Teacher Toolbox:

http://www.aahperd.org/NASPE/template.cfm?template=teachers_toolbox.html

In lower right corner, I do a posting of Trivia facts on different subjects.

I am a Parapro at the Lighthouse Education Center. Emily is the teacher.
