Title of Bulletin Board: Physical Activity and Health Go Hand and Hand

Materials: Construction paper with predrawn figure, glue, crayons, pencil/pen

Description:

My 3rd grade PE/Health students were given a piece of construction paper in which I had traced a gingerbread type figure. Their assignment was to create a character that represented them. On the front of the body each class was assigned a word that related to their current health unit; RESPECT, CARING, SAFETY, and HEALTH. They wrote acrostic poems using these words down the front of their character. Students were given the liberty of being creative and decorated hats, scarves, sports equipment and shoes, etc. A first grade teacher made the large students at the top of the board and had her students decorate them in a way that closely resembled their personality and style. I placed the characters on the board by connecting them hand in hand. The sign was made using Microsoft Publisher.
