Description:
This bulletin board was created during our PE Unit - Nutrition Labels and Calories. Students learned how to read and interpret a nutrition label found on food packaging. They also learned how many calories their bodies needed, which depended on age, gender, height, weight and activity levels. This board reinforced what was being taught by allowing the students to review the food label that was posted.
Additional Information:
Along with the nutrition food label, students also learned our "Healthy Rules of the Road". These are located around the sides of the board. Students were able to learn the meaning of common street signs on the road, as well as a way to interrupt those same signs to lead a healthy active lifestyle. In other words, every time students would see the signs on the street, the sign would remind them of a healthy habit they should take part in. The Healthy Rules of the Road are the following: Rule 1: Stop Sign : Stop for healthy snacks Rule 2: Bike Route : Be sure to exercise everyday Rule 3: Yield : Watch for Oils, Slow down on fats, Pass by Sugars Rule 4: Stop Light : Always Eat Breakfast Rule 5: Disabled Parking : We are ALL different...Be Patient! Rule 6: Pedestrian Crossing : Be Happy, Be Healthy, Be Strong Rule 7: Railroad Crossing : "Train" yourself to make wise choices Rule 8: School Crossing : Encourage your family to live a HAL (Healthy Active Lifestyle)
