PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Don't Let Being Healthy Puzzle You

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Bulletin board construction paper and border, construction paper for letters, cardstock paper for the puzzle pieces

Description:

The purpose of this bulletin board is to provide students the basic information on how easy it is to be healthy. Most kids do not know how much exercise they need daily, what exercises they can do to make their bodies stronger, and also the basic concepts of nutrition and sleep.

Since this basic knowledge seems to "puzzle" young students, I felt like this board is a great way to feed this information to the students so that they can see and read it on a daily basis. The bulletin board is full of information such as exercises that strengthen muscles, exercises that make you more flexible, nutritional foods, the AHA recommendation on exercise for kids, and other tips on how to stay healthy like participating in extra-curricular sports and getting 8 hours of sleep.

You can also add information on how to keep from spreading germs or how much water you need to drink a day.

This bulletin board can be adapted to older students as well by just changing the recommendations for exercise intensity.
