PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: We Can Tie!

Category: Girls and Women in Sports

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Bulletin board paper, border, colorful shoelace ribbon

Description:

Students are changing out of winter boots/snow gear several times throughout the day. At this age level, tying your own sneakers fosters independence and above all...SAFETY! To encourage students to learn this important skill, I have integrated a shoe tie station that I offer one on one assistance. When a student can tie by themselves, they have the honor of signing the "I Can Tie!" bulletin board. This encourages practice and a simple way to recognize mastering a skill!
