Title of Bulletin Board: Snowboarding through the 5 Components of Fitness

Materials: Large Roll Bulletin Board Paper, Permanent Marker, Cricut, Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge

Description:

This board was created to provide my students with the understanding that so many activities we do incorporate one or all of the 5 components of health-related fitness. This board was also designed with the intent to teach my students that "Fitness isn't about being better than someone else...fitness is about being able to move and do more than you used to be able to".

In one day a person normally spends about 6-7 hours on the slopes. Your muscles need to be able to perform over and over and over.
The Snowboarding through the 5 Components of Health-Related Fitness Poster has the following written:

Cardiorespiratory Endurance:
All day on the mountain works your heart and lungs by vigorously moving all day long

Muscular Strength:
To carve down the slopes, you need strong legs to push, pull, and lift your body at various times.
A strong core (stomach) is needed for balance and to get from sitting to standing.

Muscular Endurance:
Using your muscles all day long.

Flexibility:
Needed when changing directions through reaching and bending continuously.

Body Composition:
Eating healthy and snowboarding = perfect recipe for a healthy body composition of developing strong bones, using fat for energy and warmth, and by helping the muscle become lean through continuous activity.
