Title of Bulletin Board:
Don't Be a Wallflower - Spring Into Action!
Category:
Fitness
Suggested Grade Level:
All
Materials:
Colored paper, pictures of balls, frisbee, bike wheel and markers
Description:
I used images from the computer and printed out pictures of spring related activities - baseball, softball, frisbee, golf ball, bike wheel, beach ball and a tennis ball. The pictures were used for the center of each flower. I then used various springlike colors of paper to make different styles of petals for the flowers. For one flower, I used layers of white tissues taped to the back of the flower and then peeled the layers foward. I taped the petals to the back of the flower as well as a green stem. The flower was then stapled to the bulletin board. At the bottom of bulletin board I used green paper and cut into the paper at alternating lengths. The paper was then ruffled to give a grass like appearance. Using Microsoft Publisher I made a banner reading "Don't Be a Wallflower - Spring into Action!" and affixed this to the top of the bulletin board. I also made signs to suggest activities that can be done in the spring to be active and get exercise.
Additional Information:
For some of the petals I used scissors that cut the paper in designs. I got these scissors at a craft supply store in the scrapbooking section and find them to be handy for many projects. The yellow flower in the picture is strips of paper folded over in a loop and then taped to the picture of the ball.
