Description:

This bulletin board was created and displayed right after the winter break in order to highlight all the upcoming events occurring during the next three months, not only at our school, but within our community.
A large poster was created to resemble a notebook pad entitled “HES 2013 Fun Activities To Do”. As our events take place, they are checked off. The notepad was created in Printshop, then laminated. To the right of the large notebook pad are the events highlighted with additional information.
The first event which is ongoing, January through May is our Mileage Club. Students can earn foot charms after walking/running 5 miles during their recess time. Also, students have an additional incentive to “Earn A Shirt” if they complete their personal mileage goal. (A generous donor gave our school funds for the shirts)
The second event occurring in February is our annual Jump Rope For Heart. Pictures of last year’s event and incentives are displayed to encourage participation. All participants are invited to attend a “water balloon” activity in the spring, our top fund raisers will eat Subway in the gym with the physical education teacher, and our top fund raiser will be "PE Teacher" for the day.
The third event is our Family Fun and Fitness Night which also occurs one night in February. We have approximately eight activities/games in different classrooms, cafeteria, and gym for families to enjoy. A poster of last year’s event is displayed as well.
The last event highlights the Shamrock Operation Smile Final Mile held in Virginia Beach on March 16th. This is our second time to participate with currently 19 runners. A picture of last year’s race is posted along with the names of the current students running.
The poster has been a great guide in the events occurring at our school and community. The students have enjoyed seeing the notepad get checked off as activities are completed.
