Title of Bulletin Board: Be Like An Olympian

Description:

This year our school put into place ESD “Effective School-wide Discipline” which is a partnership with parents and community resources, striving to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children where differentiated learning experiences enable the student to achieve high goals, develop critical thinking skills, contribute to society and become lifelong learners in the 21st century. I decided to hook our school theme into the gym and use the Olympics as a platform, since the summer Olympics were just held.

The Olympic rings are large poster board cut into circles, and the gold, silver and bronze medals are made out of paper with our “hawk” cut out using the Ellison machine and taped onto the medal. The letters “Be Like and Olympian” TEAM HES are cut out with the Ellison Machine. To the right of the Olympic rings are the three major rules of ESD which were typed and printed on copy paper.

After we reviewed the gym rules to include the “school” rules, every student made a thumbprint on a separate bulletin board which stated they were going to follow the rules and “Be like an Olympian” which hold the high standards of respectful, responsible and safe.
