This is a bulletin board for all the students and staff at our school. It was created as a way to give positive reinforcement to students and staff for displaying an act of kindness towards someone in school. Our mascot name is the Cougars, which is why it's Paws for Kindness. That's a great way for the students to take pride in their school.

A student can get a Paw for Kindness for displaying any act of generosity towards another student or staff. It can be something as simple as playing nicely with someone at recess or including someone in a game, helping someone understand an assignment that they've missed, walking a student to the nurse, etc. When a student gets a Paw for Kindness, their name gets written on the slip as well as their kind gesture they've displayed, then it gets posted on the board in the hallway for everyone to see. So far, I've personally given out Paws for Kindness to students for things such as helping clean up after P.E, walking quietly through the hall for classses outside and good sportsmanship displayed during class.

This has been a great way to give the students some reward and recognition for kindness and it's something that they feel very proud to get. Some students have taken such pride in receiving and giving Paws for Kindness that they've given it to teachers for going out of their way to help them. I personally received a Paw for Kindness from some 5th graders for attending their football game earlier this year. It's been a great addition to our school this year.
