Description:

I titled my bulletin board, “Let’s Be Friends.” This is symbolizing that children need to be socially interactive and learn how to have healthy and happy relationships with others. The purpose of this bulletin board was to help kids understand how essential it is to have healthy and effective interpersonal communication and relationships. The pictures that I included on this bulletin board are all of good relationship habits whether it included body language or just simply interaction. I put a picture of a couple holding hands, a couple forming a heart with their hands together, a group of students holding hands together very enthusiastically on the beach, a group of children all hanging out together no matter the ethnicity or gender, a group on young boys all reading together, and a family having a great time all together. Last, I put a picture in the corner that says, “I love my third graders.” I thought this was symbolic not only because the grade I am working on with this project is 3rd graders, but also because it shows that even teachers can have great relationships with their students. I also put words up there that symbolized what it means to be in a healthy relationship – the qualities, characteristics, and benefits. The words I thought were the most beneficial were: respect, understanding, responsible, love, comfort, trust, support, caring, and nurturing. Last, I added some color to the pictures by putting a background color on the picture that brightly contracts the background color (dark blue) that I used on the bulletin board. I love things to pop out so I had to put some extra fun and bright colors on my bulletin board. I also added a blue background sprinkle border around the outside, I thought it was very cute and fun looking and that it would match my theme perfectly!
