Description:

The "Star Student" board is displayed to encourage positive behavior in the Gymnasium and beyond Physical Education. If a student demonstrates exemplary behavior beyond the average expectations for his/her grade level, he/she is awarded being a "Star Student". For example, a second grade student is working on throwing. He is good at the skill and sees another student struggling. Without being prompted, he goes over to the other student and breaks down the skill for him and works with him to understand = Star Student! Displaying the children's names on the board with a simple explanation of how they earned it really gets the rest of the students in the school motivated! Now I have students walking around and helping each other all the time because ONE student did it and was praised!! *Be careful not to give the award out too much because then it looses its value :)
