PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Overcoming Obstacles

Category: Adapted

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Magazine pictures & quotes

Description:

It is important for students to understand other people's differences. Whether it is a talent someone has or a disability that inhibits them from performing on the same level as others. We wanted to encourage our students to never give up no matter where they live, what happens to them, or if they have a disability. That there is hope and they can still achieve whatever they want to do if they continue to work hard towards the goal.
Some of the quotes I include:

Perhaps I am stronger than I think
-Thomas Merton

Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing. -Unknown

“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.”
-Og Mandino

“Fall seven times, stand up eight”
-Japanese Proverb

“Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times."

- unknown

“Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever.” - Lance Armstrong
“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”
 - Muhammad Ali

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as you mind lets you. What you believe, you can achieve.” - Mary Kay Ash

“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me brave in the attempt.

Casandra,

I am teaching an adapted PE class, where we have student leaders helping our special needs students. This bulletin board is a great way to teach tolerance towards others, and empathy.
