Description:
I created this bulletin board for my Health Education class as a project to address a topic in the kindergarten curriculum. I chose to make it an interactive bulletin board because at the ages of 4, 5, and 6 most children have a hard time sitting still, and this would give them the opportunity to move and have the hands on experience of deciding and creating their own healthy meals. I created a food pyramid out of poster board and colored it with colored pencil, a different color for each food pyramid category. I printed out a variety of foods that would fit into each category(including items that could be used from the different categories to create sandwiches and put Velcro on each item that could be used for this so that they could be stacked), cut them out and used the contact paper to laminate them as well as the food pyramid for strength so that they wouldn't tear when being moved around by the students. I used Velcro to attach all the food items to the food pyramid in their correct categories, and I also put Velcro on the paper plates and next to them so that the food/drink items that were chosen for the meals could be placed on the plates and next to them. Using my computer, I generated labels for the food pyramid categories, the meal titles, and the directions and then taped them all to the construction paper to add some dimension.
