Description:
This bulletin board shows the details concerning one of my students' favorite holiday PE songs/dances. The dance is called the "12 Days of PE Class" and is set to the tune of the "12 Days of Christmas", however the words are all different and for each day the students have to perform a different movement. These are the different movements which are each highlighted on the bulletin board separately: On the 1st day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do some arm flapping chicken kinda things On the 2nd day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do two pulling thumbs On the 3rd day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do three weights for lifting On the 4th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 4 shout outs On the 5th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 5 hula hoops On the 6th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 6 squatting thrusts On the 7th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 7 strokes of swimming On the 8th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had em do 8 ropes for climbing On the 9th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 9 ways of dancing On the 10th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 10 yards of leaping On the 11th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 11 blocks in boxing on the 12th day of PE class my phys ed teacher had me do 12 power punches I created this board for several reasons... 1. To highlight the different movements performed in a favorite holiday fitness activity -- seeing the song helps the teacher assistants and visual learners remember all the different movements. 2. To have a "winter/holiday" type bulletin board up in the cafeteria to help with the decor in the room for the upcoming Holiday music concert. (The year before my carefully designed PE bulletin board was covered by gaudy holiday decorations for the holiday concert, this year it was not covered up! ...I think because I had a snowman in the corner and it fit the "agenda/theme".) 3. At the bottom of the bulletin board, as the student draws near to read the smaller print, they read about physical fitness and why it is so important for young children to get adequate amounts of exercise. Dancing is a perfect way move towards cardiovascular fitness. At the bottom right hand corner is a sheet showing what the movements for the song look like when performed, and on the snowman I wrote "Winter Wellness"
