Title of Bulletin Board:
Pitch In For A Healthy World
Category:
Recycling
Suggested Grade Level:
K-2
Materials:
letters, lightweight baskets, recyclable items around the house
Description:
I was teaching a lesson on environmental health and how that is associated with our health. The purpose of the bulletin board was to show the students how the things that we use on a daily basis are items that can be recycled. This shows the students that they are able to help out with environmental health as well as adults. I included items such as a macaroni and cheese box, a capri sun packet, a water bottle, a newspaper, piece of bubble wrap, a piece of my childs school work, a dr. pepper can, a piece of aluminum foil, and a pie pan. I also included three items that could not be recycled, an unused diaper, a piece of wood and a sponge. I included the baskets labeled paper, plastic and aluminum and the students were able to take the items off the board and place them in the correct basket. The answers to which basket they belonged was on the back of the item. The directions stated, "place the items in their proper containers. Be careful, some might be a little tricky." I included the core content and objective on the left side. I also included an I Did it board. This is a dry erase board where the students write their names on the board as they complete this project.
Additional Information:
This was a helpful activity for the students. It showed the students that the items that they use everyday are able to be recycled. The students loved this activity and were excited to get to play on the board.
