Description:

This board was created during our Nutrition Unit, which had a strong focus on the Food Guide Pyramid. Throughout the Nutrition Unit, students were taught about the foods grouped in each food group, the main nutrient provided by each food group and how that nutrient benefits our body. The best part about this board is that it reinforces how vital nutrients are to our body and that we can't eliminate any one group out of our diet. After each lesson many students shared where they have seen the food guide pyramid, such as cereal boxes, as well as what new nutrition information they taught their family at dinner!
This bulletin board is placed right next to gym doors. At the end of every PE class, many students can be found standing by the board discussing what foods they ate the previous day, what food group the foods belong in, what nutrients they received and how that helped their body. As a teacher, observing my students talking about such topics was incredibly rewarding.
