Title of Bulletin Board:
We Are Active
Category:
Fitness
Suggested Grade Level:
K-2
Materials:
Paper off of the roll, activity pictures laminated, construction paper, floor tape, thread, scotch tape, little cut out feet, stickers
Description:
This board was for National Physical Education and Sports week and it supports Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction. It can be a math extension activity where older students read the graph for top favorite activity by grade level and school. Cut a piece of paper off the roll large enough for the number of pictures you will be putting on the bulletin board and put up on a wall. Put a laminated picture on a piece of construction paper. Tape the activity pictures above the large piece of paper off the roll. Use floor tape to make lines on the large piece of paper so it resembles a graph. To make a straight line you can place a pencil mark every 10 inches on the large piece of paper at the top and bottom. Then use a small piece of scotch tape and tape a piece of thread from top to bottom. Then take floor tape and tape over the thread to create a straight line. Let students graph their 3 favorite activities. You can color code stickers by grade level such as red for first grade and yellow for second grade.
Additional Information:
The prior year we did a board titled "We Like To Move It, Move It" with only aerobic pictures. Students put their name on an address label and placed it under their favorite aerobic activity.
