Title of Bulletin Board: How is your balance?

Category: Nutrition

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Butcher paper, food photos cut from magazines or printed, markers

Description:

The food pyramid was formed with scraps of butcher paper, the scales were made with discarded construction paper, and each food group had a footer that identified a recommended daily intake and gave students tips in a non-technical tone. This is part of a school-wide effort to improve nutrition and student activity levels and works hand-in-hand with family nutrition courses offered in the evenings. The scale's beam was formed by forcing the paper into a "loop" and stapling it in place, catching students' eyes with its 3-D effect.
