PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Health Benefits

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: "Physical Best Activity Guide: Elementary Level" by NASPE

Description:

The theme of the bulletin board is health benefits and the purpose is to inform students of the benefits of being healthy. There are numerous signs on the bulletin board with pictures and words of health benefits. There are also pictures of the food pyramid, physical activity pyramid, and diet/nutrition recommendations. Most of the signs on the bulletin board are from “Physical Best Activity Guide: Elementary Level” by NASPE. There is also a folder with puzzles (cross word, word search, etc...) on the bulletin board. The signs are good because they have corresponding pictures. Many students, especially in elementary school, struggle to read, and having pictures will help them. This bulletin board also reinforces literacy skills outside of the classroom. It really is important to be healthy and live a healthy life. At such a young age, it is crucial to educate them on this idea now. Developing healthy habits at a young age makes it easier to maintain them throughout their lives.
