Name of Best Practice: Trail Blazers Hiking Club
Rationale/Purpose of Event: To promote a healthy lifestyle by going on monthly hikes around our area. Also to provided a quality family activity.
Suggested Grade Level: 3-5
Materials Needed: Access to hiking trails and all the things necessary to successfully complete a hike.
Once a month the P.E. department arranges a hike that takes place after school or on a Saturday morning. This has been a great way to introduce the students to the hikes around our area and to promote exercise. Families see there are ways to spend free quality time together while getting exercise. It has been a lot of fun to get to know the parents and students outside of school.
