Teacher: Meg Greiner who teaches at Independence Elementary School in Independence, OR. Meg Greiner can be contacted at greiner@aol.com.
Name of Best Practice: TEAM Time (Together Everyone Achieves More)
Rationale/Purpose of Event: To prepare everyone for a day of learning by moving together in the gym. This also promotes school community and team building.
Suggested Grade Level: K-5
Materials Needed: PA System, wireless mic, music
Every morning at 8:30 AM to begin school EVERYONE (this includes students, staff, parents, etc.) in the entire school gather in the gym for 15 - 20 minutes of movement to music, dancing, brain based activities, and stretching (done after we move). This is followed by morning announcements. We dance, sing, and move together preparing our brains and bodies for learning and celebrating the day. This is led by me, the physical education teacher.
