Name of Best Practice: Physical Education Demonstration Program

Rationale/Purpose of Event: An evening in which students demonstrate to parents, teachers, and other members of the community various activities they have learned in physical education.

Suggested Grade Level: K-8

Materials Needed: The materials needed depends entirely on what activities the students will be performing. However, a public address system and a well written program is essential.

Physical Education Demonstration Program

The Rockport Elementary Physical Education Demonstration takes place in April. All students (22 classes, approximately 500 students) take part in the demonstration. The demonstration is coordinated so that half of the students in grades kindergarten through two perform on Monday and the other half on Tuesday, students in grade three perform on Wednesday, students in grade four on Thursday, and students in grade five on Friday.

On the night of the demonstration, students can perform activities that are a part of their regular physical education program. The activities could include cooperative and problem solving activities, creative movement, rhythms, folk dance, or tumbling.

Physical education demonstrations are an outstanding way to promote your physical education program!
