Name/Title: Hall of Shame Game Assessment

Purpose of Event: The purpose of this activity is for students to gain an understanding of why the wall of shame games are inappropriate for physical education class.

Suggested Grade Level: 6-8

Materials Needed: Print the Assignment (PDF)

Description of Idea

This is a nice assignment to see if students clearly understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate games that you are going to include in your program. After you discuss with them your program objectives and you teach them about appropriate activities that you are going to do in your program have them read PE Central's Hall of Shame of Games and have them complete this written assignment.

Variations:

Instead of you allowing the children to pick the game assign each child the game you want them to review.

Play some of these games in class and then add modifications that allow them to be more appropriate.

Teaching Suggestions:

This is a good assignment to give if you were taking over a program that had children play a lot of inappropriate games and you are trying to show them alternative ways to do things in your program.
