Title of Bulletin Board: Reading a Nutrition Label

Materials: Food lables of several products

Description:

Task: Pick the Healthier Snack

The students were asked to examine the Nutritional Labels of two different snack foods. They had to show that they could transfer nutritional information accurately from the actual label to a blank food label. Then they determined which food is healthier based on all of the things we have learned about food.

Key Points:
-Healthier snacks have:

LESS
-calories, calories from fat, fat, cholesterol, sodium and sugar.

&

MORE:
-dietary fiber, protein and vitamins.

Finally, the students had to write why one snack was healthier than the other.
