Description:

I created this bulletin board to express the dangers of smoking cigarettes. This bulletin board is meant to compliment your health unit on substance abuse. The concept using the movie character Forest Gump and his famous quote, "Stupid is as Stupid Does" is used because it is popular, and easily comprehended by students. Students should relate this quote to the act of smoking as a very negative action that has consequences and essentially is not smart. My wife gave me the idea to burn the edges of the paper that the students will read to sginify that anyone who smokes is playing with fire and could very well get burned. The fire border is used in conjunction with this idea as well.

Goal #5 (not to participate in substance abuse)and objective #5.01 (short and long term effects of smoking) from the NCSCOS is addressed in this bulletin board. The information presented on the board should address this goal and objective. Make sure to list the "long term effects" and "short term effects" on the board.
