Title of Bulletin Board: Take A Chance, Join the Dance!

Category: Dance

Suggested Grade Level: 6-8

Materials: Construction paper, footprint borders, punch out letters

Description:

My dance program is a new elective for Lindsey Middle School in Lakewood, Ca.. The kids have never had dance before, so I said, "Take a Chance, Join the Dance" because I thought they may be a bit nervous about it.

The left side has the visual/performing art standards for Dance. The middle will be Dance News, and on the right are Dance vocabulary words. Notice "isolation" is up in the right hand corner by itself, and "posture" is sideways.

Additional Information:

I will be teaching line, multicultural, and square dance, as well as dancing through the decades and ballroom dancing. It's going to be a blast!

Good Luck with your "Take a chance, Join the Dance" class. I developed and implemented a dance class semester elective for our high school students several years ago. It is called "Just Dance". I cover square & contra dance, folk dance, line dance, social/ballroom, latin, hip-hop, novelty dances, and choreography. I love teaching it and the students enjoy taking it.
