PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: April Showers-How to stay active even when its wet

Category: Seasons (Fall, Spring, etc.)

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Construction Paper shapes (clouds, rain drops, tulips, grass, stems, sun, etc).

Description:

Since it is spring time in upstate NY we often see a lot of rain. I wanted to create a bulletin board where students could get ideas of how to stay active even when it is rainy out. I also wanted students to be the ones to give these suggestions. During class the previous week I discussed with kids how it is still important to stay active even when it is rainy and wet out. I asked them to brainstorm and tell me things that they do when it is rainy to stay active. I chose 2 kids from each class to write on a paper tulip their ideas. After all my classes had filled out a paper tulip I created the bulletin board. My bulletin board said, "Ever heard the saying 'April showers bring May flowers?' For those of you who have heard this saying all know that spring can be very rainy! You may find it hard to stay active when you can’t go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Check out how our students stay positive and get active, even when the weather wants to bring them down!"
