Materials: background paper (I choose one with hearts), cut-out letters, pictures of heart healthy things and pictures of unhealthy heart things, cutout heart (red & black), large heart 1/2 red 1/2 black

Description:

Put this bullentin board up in February (or any time of year) when you are focusing on healthy and unhealthy alternatives for your heart. I referred to this board throughout the month of February as we geared up for Jump Rope for Heart. We discussed things kids can do to keep their hearts healthy (exercising, eating right, sleep, etc) and things that could make their hearts unhealthy (smoking, to much T.V., eating the wrong foods, etc). The week before JRFH we said heart healthy facts on the morning announcements to re-inforce the bullentin board and lessons in PE. This board made quite the impressive on my students (K-5).
