PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Olympic Sports

Category: Sports

Suggested Grade Level: K-5

Materials: Butcher Paper, Printouts from http://www.instantdisplay.co.uk/olympicsportcolouring.pdf

Description:

To get the elementary age kids at my school to think about the different kinds of sports and activities they can participate in to be healthy, I made a bulletin board with many different Olympic sports highlighted. I have the words, "Olympic Sports" along the top and "What Sport Would You Do?" along the bottom. I chose sports that don't involve weapons (fencing, archery, etc.) and enough that would fit on my board, colored a small portion of each picture and mounted it on construction paper, then hung them at angles on the board. I made Olympic rings from a die-cut letter O. It was fun to listen to the kids discuss the different sports they do or want to try as they walked by the bulletin board.
