Title of Bulletin Board: A,B,C's of Fitness

Category: Integration

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Colored paper, scissors, markers, red brick paper

Description:

The A,B,C's of Fitness bulletin board can be used any time during the year. For the month of December, I used a Christmas scene. On the Christmas tree I placed 23 ornaments. Each with a letter of the alphabet on it & underneath the ornament there is a statement containing a key word that relates to fitness. For example - "A" is on the ornament & underneath is the statement "is for being ACTIVE"; "B" is for building strong BONES; "C" is for CLIMBING; etc. Beneath the tree are 3 gifts, each with a letter & statement - rounding out the 26 letters. Above the fireplace is a wreath that has the name of the bulletin board. During class, the students & I discuss other words relating to activities and/or games and/or sports that are associated with being physically fit.
