Title of Bulletin Board: Shaping up for the Seasons

Category: Seasons (Fall, Spring, etc.)

Suggested Grade Level: 6-8

Materials: Brochures of local outdoor activities, background and border materials (we used colored tape for borders), printed out pictures and construction paper.,

Description:

This board is seasonal themed, with a focus on keeping kids active all year round. We wanted to give our students a lot of options and resources. It was simple, but you can have a lot of fun decorating each area of the board with a different season! We included activities that can be done during each of the seasons, complimenting the short descriptions with pictures of kids playing and doing the activities.

Another way to make it fun for the kids was to use silly slogans. We wrote: "Fall into a good routine" "Stay cool in the summer" "Warm up in the winter" and "Spring for a hike or nature activity"

Additional Information:

There are 2 main interactive aspects of this board. The first is a plethora of pamphlets and brochures for students to take. The brochures we used were for local nature centers and activities such as hikes, biking trails, etc. The goal was to give students additional resources to get active outside when the weather was nice.

The next interactive aspect was a checklist that students could fill out. They would write their name on a grid, and put a check next to each activity they had done that week. This was a way that the students could remain active indoors when the weather was not as nice.
