Title of Bulletin Board: Jump To It Category: Pedometers Suggested Grade Level: 3-5 Materials: Grade/ Class Charts and Pedometers Description: The month of February is always Jump Rope Month at our school and this year, our theme is Jump To It. In conjunction with this effort and as a cross-curricular approach with math, students in grades 3-6 are using pedometers for an entire class period and totaling and graphing the number of steps collectively at the end of their class. Once the steps are totaled, a comparison is then made between classes and also between other grade levels. This has been a highly motivating project and students are very excited to see how many steps they've taken at the end of their 30 minute class. I plan to use pedometers more frequently once this project is complete!
