Title of Bulletin Board: Dancing In the New Year

Description:

This board was created for Highland Elementary School in Seaside, California where I am an Adapted PE teacher. This week we started our rhythms and dance unit. I saw the idea for this board on this very website titled "Dancing in the New Year". I thought it was perfect because we just started 2011 and I am focusing on dances. I created the bulletin board with a little help from my computer and my old crafting skills (creating little construction paper children to look like my dancers). The board gives a brief overview of some of the dances we'll be focusing on in the few weeks ahead. I also found some clip art (i.e. Maracas, chicken, and Mexican Hat) to visually support the names of the different dances. I will be adding pictures of my students learning the various dances as the weeks progress. Another purpose of the board was to raise awareness for health and fitness by suggesting a healthy activity (dancing) to the rest of the students at Highland Elementary. This bulletin board is located in the cafeteria so not only will my Adapted PE students see it, but the regular ed. students will all see it as they enter and leave the cafeteria.
