Description:

Our bulletin board was constructed with the purpose of informing middle school age children how to properly use refusal skills and techniques to overcome peer pressure to use illicit substances. (In this case alcohol and over the counter drugs). 'Expressing their iMessages' is the title we used in order to illustrate how we want the students to effectively learn how to reject these offers for illicit substance use/abuse. The design of the board itself is constructed after the popular iPod commercials with the intention that the students would relate to this and it would be as attractive for them to read as the commercials and ads are that they are exposed to. The two silhouettes on the board are learning ways through their podcasts coming through their iPod refusal skills to use. There is also a pocket on the bottom left corner filled with additional refusal techniques and advice so they know what to say to their friends when faced with such a situation.
